As a Managing Director in Hungary - presentation by Abe Yoshinobu
On September 11th, we had the pleasure of welcoming Mr. Yoshinobu Abe and his wife.
Mr. Abe served as Managing Director, the top executive of the Magyar Suzuki from 2016 to 2021; our club president regards him as the "best boss" he ever had.
His presentation was titled: "As a Managing Director in Hungary – An Informal Discussion on Business Experiences and Personal Relationships"
He shared his experiences regarding corporate leadership in Hungary, emphasizing that—despite the rise of the digital world—the human element remains crucial. He noted that there are real people with emotions and motivations behind artificial intelligence, and that effective communication is indispensable.
However, he also observes changes in the younger generation: they struggle with face-to-face communication, and their work style differs significantly; many rely on precise instructions from superiors or on artificial intelligence rather than attempting to solve problems independently.
We also learned that, following his retirement, he taught business English at Shizuoka University of Art and Culture for several years.
During his time in Hungary, he and his wife developed a great fondness for Hungarian wines and pálinka; they are currently enthusiastic members of the Hungarian Wine and Pálinka Association and the Japan-Hungary Friendship Association.
His future plans include mastering the Hungarian language, though other new challenges also lie ahead for him.
One of our club members aptly summed up the sentiments of all attendees by describing Mr. Abe as a likable, kind, intelligent, and worldly individual whose words and thoughts are well worth listening to.
We thank you for honoring us with a visit during their brief stay, and we wish Mr. Abe and his dear wife continued good health and success.
