Raising the Retirement age - Style japonais

Raising the Retirement age - Style japonais

The possible raising of the retirement age is the subject of public debate in both Japan and Hungary. While the Japanese government has already taken a concrete step, in Hungary there is still no concrete government step, even a draft, that would indicate the determination of this bold and difficult economic policy step. The retirement age for Japanese state and local civil servants has been raised to 61 from the beginning of April 2021 and will reach 65 in 2031. In Hungary, we are not far from this: the government has only gotten so far as to submit a reform proposal to the European Union, in which it is stated that they would investigate further raising the retirement age. Wouldn't the rush be justified: at the moment, a Hungarian living to the pension age of 65, be it a woman or a man, has a further life expectancy of approximately four years shorter, even than the EU average, while in the case of Japan this difference is more than a decade?!
